(M/W) Exoskeleton Control internship

About

Wandercraft provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age or disability.

Wandercraft aims to restore the ability to stand up and walk to individuals with limited mobility, providing an ordinary life for extraordinary people. To achieve this, we have created the Atalante X exoskeleton.

Used for locomotor rehabilitation in hospitals, this medical device is the first exoskeleton in the world to incorporate innovative autonomous stabilization technology, allowing hands-free movement.

Leveraging our expertise in robotics, artificial intelligence, biomedical engineering, and the advancements of Atalante X, we are developing a personal exoskeleton to help users regain independence at home, on the street, and in everyday life.

Our main objective today is to develop the first self-stabilizing personal exoskeleton for daily use, both in the home and out in the world.

Based in the heart of Paris and New York, our team of over one hundred people collaborates with leading university laboratories and top medical teams worldwide.

Join us to transform the lives of individuals with limited mobility through technology!

Job Description

Within a young and dynamic start-up located in the center of Paris, you will participate in the development of the exoskeleton control. This work will include aspects of modeling, optimized trajectory generation and/or controller synthesis.

You will be integrated in the control and command team composed of PhD students and engineers under the supervision of one of the engineers of the team. You may collaborate with the mechanical and electronic teams to implement recent techniques of dynamic robotics.

Your main activities will be for example:

  • Trajectory planning for the exoskeleton

  • Control architecture validation in simulation environment

  • Testing control architecture experimentally with the exoskeleton, and adapting it to problems encountered

  • Participating in the team's tests on the exoskeleton

Preferred Experience

You are innovative. You enjoy working on a complex and challenging product. You like trying new things, and coming up with solutions to overcome problems encountered.

You are rigorous. You can carry out kinematics and dynamics calculations. You are able to think calmly about the assumptions, benchmarks, conventions and units used. You can clearly explain your approach to your peers and report your results.

You are adaptable. You are able to keep up with frequent software changes made to the prototype, as well as sometimes rapid changes in priorities.

You like to work in a small team (10 people) within a multidisciplinary intermediate structure (100 people), in a young company in full growth.

How to apply

  1. Submit your application by clicking on the "Apply" button below

  2. To validate your application, we would like you to demonstrate your interest in programming and problem solving by passing a "challenge":

* Go to https://adventofcode.com/

* Solve the challenges to obtain 2 stars on the first 4 levels

* Send us your solutions by replying to the "application received / candidature bien reçue" email that was sent to you after you applied. We expect the solutions found for each level (i.e. 8 integer numbers), as well as your source code (github link, or files directly attached to the email, uncompressed).

We look forward to meeting you!

This internship offer is also available in French language on request.
